Offshore Engineering: Advances and Sustainability
Date : 7 - 9 June 2011
Venue : Impiana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur
The Seminar
The Malaysian Structural Steel Association (MSSA), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) and the Welding Institute of Malaysia (WIM) are three business units that met last year and have put together a comprehensive programme with a common purpose – to demonstrate the latest developments in offshore engineering. They have invited many of their friends in steel to take advantage of a three – day seminar to benefit practitioners in the oil and gas industry especially in offshore operations.
22 papers will be presented, with contents showcasing technological innovations that facilitate deepwater explorations, design considerations for offshore structures and floating substructures, as well as the vantage ground of using high strength steel, whose mechanical properties and weldability render it the ideal material for offshore constructions.
The speakers, both from home and abroad, are highly qualified and experienced consultants, contractors, fabricators, and renowned university professors in the field. These experts will explain environmental loads and its interaction with offshore structures, highlight geohazards and geotechnical challenges, and feature contemporary methods and techniques to ensure operationally safe and reliable offshore facilities, which we are certain will reveal more unchartered horizons in the oil and gas industry.
For anyone whose research and business interest is exploring the deep sea, this seminar is not to be missed.
