On 20-22th of August, I attended the 7th international Conference on Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Composites in Civil Engineering (CICE 2014) in Vancouver, Canada. For the next few entries, I will be covering the trip.
First, the flight.
I used Cathay Pacific. No preference. I just let the travel agent do the ticket booking for me. Although I prefer MAS but I believe, MAS does not serve the route.
The flight was on the 18th from KLIA. Made a transit stop at Hong Kong before Vancouver.

As per UTP policy, any flights of 8 hours or more, the staff will enjoy business class. |
That was the distance from KLIA to Hong Kong. |
Two hours transit at Hong Kong airport. Lovely view as the airport is surrounded by water, and hills. |
Everything was awesome! |
Ready to Vancouver - 11 hours flight! |
Phew! |
This was like 30 minutes before landing. |
We (myself and a colleague who will be presenting papers) checked at the venue's lodging facility which was at the University of British Columbia. We noticed that most of the cab drivers were asian. Example as you can see here. Weather was nice. |
